flexibility
Depending on the system, the reactor can be mounted in different positions. It can stand in or next to the sump or be hung on it. With the help of the holder integrated in the lid, it can also be hung and attached directly to the pool. The inlet and outlet pipes can be placed in different positions to allow the piping to run in different directions.
Efficient swirling
The bottom of the case is domed to distribute an even flow of water from the central downspout over 360 degrees, eliminating blind spots.
Below this is a perforated diffusion plate which acts as a bottom support for the media when not powered on, creating an empty plenum area that allows faster fluidization when powered back on and prevents compaction of the media at the bottom of the reactor.
A coarse sponge is intended for use with fine materials that can pass through the perforated plate, but this is not normally necessary for most media.

Anyone who has ever used a reactor will know that there is a sudden deluge of water on startup that washes out some of the media before turbulence sets in.
The DD fluidized bed reactor is equipped with a perforated top plate and a fine sponge to prevent even the finest particles from escaping the reactor in this situation.
Note: When using biopellets, the top sponge should not be used, however, the perforated plate will prevent media from being flushed out of the reactor.
Easy refillability
With many reactors it is difficult or impossible to refill the media without first draining the reactor because the central tube with the lid falls off. That, and the lack of a bottom diffusion plate, means media will fill the tube when the lid is replaced, making it hard to restart.
With this product the central feed tube is separate so the cap can be easily removed leaving the tube and media in place making it a simple matter of refilling and putting the cap back on. It sounds obvious, but you'd be amazed at how many reactors this isn't possible.
There is no need to loosen multiple screws to remove the lid as it screws on and is sealed with a multi-stage, replaceable gasket at the top of the case.

In the event of a power failure where the reactor is above the water level, the water and media will be sucked back by the pump. The DD Fluidized Bed Reactor comes with a non-return valve that can be used if required and depending on the installation and will prevent this problem - simple but effective.
Important NOTE
The hose connectors at the top of the reactor are designed to be firmly inserted. However, if the unit is to be used outside of the sump, we recommend taping these with aquarium silicone for added security once the final position is determined and connecting all hoses with the cable ties provided. This provides extra security in case the connectors are not properly connected or the device is accidentally knocked over.
